Today's tazkirah (reminder) is the saying of Allah s.w.t.:

And among mankind is he who worships Allah as it were, upon the edge: if good befalls him, he is content there with; but if a trial befalls him, he turns back on his face. He loses both this world and the Hereafter. That is the evident loss. [al-Hajj 22:11]

-----------

This is one of my favorite verses. In it, Allah describes the attitude of some who when Allah bestows on him His favor, he is happy, satisfied, content and reaffirms his status as a Muslim.

However when Allah gives him a trial, he is angry, disappointed, questions Allah and even turns his back – gets away from Islam.
Not knowing or not having the iman (belief) that trials by Allah are actually for the good of himself. Allah will not test a person outside of his own capability.

Where do we stand as Muslims? Is it on the edge of a cliff or elsewhere that is firm and stable? Let us work hard to improve our knowledge and iman (belief) so that Allah will guide us to where is firm and stable.
